Controller Module Seven Segment Display Diagnostic Codes
The Controller Module Seven Segment Display shows the enclosure ID during normal operation. If a failure is detected, the Seven Segment Display shows a sequence of alpha numeric codes: a two digit category code and a two digit detail code. When blinking, the left display heartbeat LED indicates the controller firmware is operating correctly. When lit, the right LED shows a diagnostic code.
Category | Category Code | Detail Codes |
---|---|---|
Startup error | SE |
|
Operational error | OE |
Lx = Lockdown (x = lockdown code, refer to Lockdown code table) |
Component failure | CF |
|
Category delimiter | - (dash) |
Separator between category and detail codes |
End of sequence delimiter | Blank |
End of sequence indicator |
Lockdown Code | Controller State | Description |
---|---|---|
- - | Booting | Controller boot firmware is booting up |
OL | Suspended | This controller is being held in reset by the other controller |
AA | Booting | Controller-A application firmware is booting up |
bb | Booting | Controller-B application firmware is booting up |
L0 | Suspended | Mismatched controller module types |
L1 | Suspended | Missing interconnect canister (ICC/midplane) |
L2 | Suspended | Persistent controller memory errors |
L3 | Suspended | Persistent controller hardware errors |
L4 | Suspended | Persistent data protection errors |
L5 | Suspended | Auto code sync (ACS) failure |
L6 | Suspended | Unsupported host card |
L7 | Suspended | Sub module identifier not set or mismatched |
L8 | Suspended | Memory configuration error |
L9 | Suspended | Link speed mismatch |
LA | Suspended | Reserved |
Lb | Suspended | Host card configuration error |
LC | Suspended | Persistent cache backup configuration error |
Ld | Suspended | Mixed cache memory DIMMs |
LE | Suspended | Uncertified cache memory DIMM sizes |
LF | Suspended | Lockdown with limited symbol support |
LH | Suspended | Controller firmware mismatch |
LL | Suspended | Unable to access either midplane SBB EEP-ROM |
Ln | Suspended | Canister not valid for enclosure |
LP | Suspended | Drive port mapping tables not found |
LU | Suspended | SOD reboot limit exceeded |
ESM Seven Segment Display Diagnostic Codes
The ESM Seven Segment Display displays the chassis ID (numeric character) during normal operation. It shows diagnostic codes (alpha character) during ESM firmware initialization or if a failure is detected. When blinking, the leftmost display's decimal point indicates the ESM firmware is operating correctly. When lit, the rightmost display's decimal point indicates a diagnostic code is displayed.
Diagnostic Code | Priority | ESM Operational | Description |
---|---|---|---|
- - | n/a | Booting | ESM boot firmware is booting up |
88 | 1 | No | This ESM is being held in reset by the other ESM |
AA | n/a | Booting | ESM-A application firmware is booting up |
bb | n/a | Booting | ESM-B application firmware is booting up |
H0 | 2 | No | ESM SAS function failure |
H2 | 4 | No | Invalid/incomplete ESM configuration |
H3 | 7 | No | Maximum ESM reboot attempts exceeded |
H4 | 6 | Yes | This ESM cannot communicate with the other ESM |
H6 | 2 | No | Catastrophic ESM firmware failure detected |
L0 | 3 | No | Mismatched ESM module types |
L2 | 2 | No | Persistent ESM memory errors |
L3 | 2 | No | Persistent ESM hardware errors |
L9 | 6 | Yes | Overtemperature condition detected (ESM or power supply/cooling module) |
LL | 3 | No | Unable to read midplane SBB EEPROMs |
Ln | 1 | No | ESM inserted in invalid enclosure |
LP | 2 | No | Missing SBB port mapping tables |
