As installed, the TDP memory system is tuned for a very small workload. If the production workload greatly exceeds the level for which TDP is prepared, it may come to a complete stop. This may require that TDP be shut down and restarted to re-establish communication with the Teradata Database server.
For more information on tuning, refer to the General Tuning Options section of the Performance Measurement chapter in Teradata® Director Program Reference (B035-2416).
- Within a few hours of the initial start of the production Teradata workload on the IBM System z mainframe, collect TDP Cells data and perform the first tuning procedure.
- Within a few days, perform the tuning procedure again.
- Continue to periodically check the TDP Cells data to determine if the workload has changed and the tuning procedure is required again.
