A parcel is a discrete logical unit of information consisting of two parts:

  • The parcel header that contains a flavor field and a parcel body length
  • The parcel body that contains any data associated with the parcel

The parcel flavors and content of the body are symbolically defined in the TRDSPB file.

Parcel headers are not of concern to basic applications. CLIv2 constructs parcel headers as appropriate for requests and removes parcel headers for responses. For responses, the parcel flavor is returned in the Fetch-parcel-flavor DBCAREA field.
