The placement of the hardware components in a cabinet follows these general cabinet build conventions:
  • The cabinet contains one, two or three 670C or 670H systems in any combination. 670C/H systems are loaded from the bottom up.
  • Each 670C or 670H system consists of the following:
    • One processing node
    • One disk array consisting of two drive enclosures. One enclosure contains controllers, the other enclosure contains ESMs.
    • One System VMS. This VMS hosts 3 virtual machines (VMs) — CMIC VM, SWS VM, and Viewpoint VM.
    • Two 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switches for server management
  • The 670C/H cabinet contains one keyboard video monitor (KVM).
  • The 670C/H cabinet can contain up to four Teradata Managed Servers (TMSs).
  • Ethernet switches in the attic position are loaded and accessible only from the rear of the cabinet. All other chassis are loaded from the front of the cabinet, and accessible from both front and rear.
  • Each chassis has a standard position in the cabinet, and is numbered from the bottom up.
    • Chassis that are managed over the server management network have assigned chassis ID numbers. The chassis ID number identifies the chassis by position/type in the management interface.
    • Unmanaged chassis are numbered by position for cabling purposes only. The numbers do not appear in the management interface as identification of the chassis.
