Creating a Repository Class

A class defines a type of metadata in the MDS repository. An instance of a class in the repository is called a class object or simply object.

To create a new class for a specific AIM:

1 In the Navigation Pane, click Metamodel Administration.

2 From the Repository Metamodels drop-down list, select the metamodel name, and then click Go.

3 Under the Classes and Relationships area for the selected AIM, click New Class.

The Create Class screen appears.

4 Enter or select the necessary information.

For detailed instructions, click .

5 Click Create.

Upon successful completion, the right pane displays the MDS Metamodel Administration screen for the current metamodel. The new class appears in the Classes and Relationships area.

You can add properties to the class now or add them later, as needed. See “Creating a Repository Class Property” on page 86.
