When the value for Set-character-set is not appropriate for the application, you should perform the following procedure before calling DBCHCL for any function.

  1. Set Change-options to 'Y'.
  2. Change the value for Set-character-set value as follows:
    If... Then set Set-character-set to...
    the CLIv2 internal default character set name of EBCDIC is to be used An EBCDIC blank or binary zeroes
