Estimating the amount of permanent space that a Teradata MultiLoad job requires is a three-step procedure:
- Prepare a preliminary estimate for the work table and error table requirements, using a set of simplifying assumptions:
- There is only one target table.
- It has no fallback protection, no journals, and no NUSIs.
- The job does not write to the error tables.
- Teradata Database does not experience a restart condition while the job is running.
- Adjust the preliminary estimate according to the actual job requirements and expectations:
- Fallback protection
- Journals
- Non-unique indexes
- Multiple target tables
- Error table entries
- Teradata Database restarts
- Compute and add the space requirements for the restart log table.
The following topics describe each step of the estimation procedure.
