In the Console, you can backup and restore data using conventional backups. Or, you can use Snapshots.

Although you can use conventional backups for full system-level backups, conventional backups are ideal for partial backups that support these use cases:
  • Object backups at the individual table or database level
  • Backups of tables or databases that change frequently
  • Moving individual objects between systems such as Teradata test, development, and production systems

Storage for persisting backups is sold separately on a pay-for-what-you-use consumption basis. Teradata will execute full system backups only as you instruct (for example, number and frequency of backups, copies retained, and so on). Backups are persisted in the same Google Cloud region as the source system.

With conventional backups, you can restore tables, databases, and full system-level data. Snapshot-based backups can only be restored at the full system level. Restored data can be written to an alternative table or database if there is adequate space. If you want to migrate data to a separate Vantage hosted system, this service is available for an additional fee.
