The chassis in the Teradata platform system contain no user-serviceable components. Only a technically qualified customer service representative should service the system. The following cautions and warnings apply:

Proper Cooling and Airflow

Adequate ventilation must be maintained in the front and rear of the rack. See Site Environmental Planning.

This equipment has high leakage current. Reliable earth grounding of this equipment must be maintained. Grounding is provided by the power plug. The ground wire in each power cord is connected to a ground terminal in the power plug. The customer must ensure that the receptacle is properly grounded.

Rack Stabilization

Side stabilizers on the bottom of a stand-alone cabinet must remain in place as installed.

Two or more cabinets must be bolted together to prevent tipping when a chassis is extended.

No more than one chassis should be extended at one time. Extension of more than one loaded module could cause the rack to tip or fall.

A top-heavy rack could tip or fall. Proper weight distribution must be maintained.

Power On/Off

The power on/off switches on rack chassis do not completely remove AC power. After shutting down and turning off a subsystem, the AC power cords must be unplugged from the chassis.

Hazardous Electrical Conditions

Hazardous electrical conditions may be present on power, telephone, and communication cables. Power must be properly removed to access equipment. Contact Teradata Customer Support for assistance.

Electromagnetic Fields and Electrical Noise

Isolate the server from strong electromagnetic fields and electrical noise produced by electrical devices (such as elevators, copy machines, air conditioners, large fans, large electric motors, radio and TV transmitters, and high frequency security devices).

Input Supply

Check nameplate ratings to assure there is no overloading of supply circuits that could have an effect on overcurrent protection and supply wiring.

Cabinet Power

The PDUs, AC feeder boxes, or AC boxes in a cabinet are not intended to provide power to equipment that is not mounted in the cabinet. Plugging equipment not authorized for the cabinet into the PDU, AC feeder box, or AC box may result in an overvoltage condition or damage the external equipment.

The cabinet contains more than one AC power cord. To remove all power from the cabinet, all AC power cords must be disconnected from the site power source. Install the power outlets so they are near the equipment and easily accessible.

Product Labels

Only push cabinet from front. Only roll over solid floor tiles.

Do not use equipment mounted on slides or rails as a shelf or work space.

To avoid power overload in a processing/storage cabinet, only cabinet builds documented in the "Cabinet Builds for Hadoop" section of the Product and Site Preparation Guide are supported. Gray shaded areas in the cabinet build illustrations designate locations that do not support chassis. Installing chassis in these locations may result in a power overload if power to one side of the cabinet is lost.
