Inter-Cabinet Server Management Network for System with Maximum 108 Nodes (36-Port Switches)

  • This configuration is built on the cabinet and collective topology defined in Collectives.
  • This configuration illustrates topology for six appliance cabinets.
  • Each appliance cabinet shown above represents a collective. The collective may include Platform Framework cabinets (not shown).
  • The system VMS in the base cabinet (Cabinet 1) connects to the primary and secondary Ethernet switches in the base cabinet. The system VMS hosts the SWS VM.
  • Separate paths for the primary and secondary server management networks ensure network backup.
  • The primary network is configured as follows:
    • The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 1 connects to the primary Ethernet switches in Cabinets 2, 3, and 4.
    • The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 3 connects to the primary Ethernet switches in Cabinets 5 and 6.
  • The secondary network is configured as follows:
    • The secondary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 2 connects to the secondary Ethernet switches in Cabinets 1, 3, and 4.
    • The secondary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 4 connects to the secondary Ethernet switches in Cabinets 5 and 6.
  • For port-to-port cabling, see the appropriate Hardware Installation Guide.
