Instead of, or in addition to, using the BTEQ SUPPRESS command, use the SKIPLINE and SKIPDOUBLE commands to insert one or two blank lines in a report whenever the value of a specified column changes.

Example – SKIPLINE or SKIPDOUBLE

Adding a BTEQ SKIPLINE command to the previous example produces the example report shown below:

.SET SKIPLINE ON 1
.SET SUPPRESS ON 1
select deptno, name from employee
where deptno in (100, 300) 
order by deptno;

Example report:

DeptNo  Name
------  -----------
   100  Chin M
        Greene W
        Moffit H
        Peterson J
   
   300  Russell S
        Phan A
        Leidner P

Similarly, using a SKIPDOUBLE command adds two blank lines, and using both SKIPLINE and SKIPDOUBLE adds three.
