You can use the Table Data Editor to review and edit database tables that contain Character Large Objects (CLOBs). A CLOB is a collection of character data stored as a single entity in a Database Management System (DBMS).
- Source of Imported Data
- If the data in the object is imported, the source file for that data displays in the File field.
- Actions on Object
- You can import, export, or clear the binary data in CLOBs. These functions are selected by clicking the action buttons to the left of the Edit workarea.
- Editor Workarea
- The editor workarea displays the current data in the selected object for edit. You can insert, delete, and modify data displayed in this area. You can import from or export to files, such as a Microsoft Word file or text file. You can also remove all data by clicking Clear. CLOB data larger than 64k can be viewed, exported, and imported, but not edited in the Clob Editor. To edit files larger than 64k, export to a text editor.
- Slidebars
- The data in an object is often more than can be displayed within the editing area. Use the slidebars on each side of the Edit workarea to scroll through data.
- Encoding Standard
- The Encoding fields shows the encoding standard used for the data in the editor workarea. Use the drop-down menu to select a different standard.
