Running SCANDISK is an optional step. However, if you haven't run SCANDISK in the past couple of months, it is recommended that you do so now.
- Coordinate with the system administrator to determine an appropriate setting (priority=low/medium/high/rush) at which to run SCANDISK. Running SCANDISK at a lower priority reduces the performance impact of the utility running while users are on the system.
- In the Teradata Database Window, open the Supervisor window.

In the Supervisor window, open the Ferret window:
start ferret

In the Ferret window, start a log file of SCANDISK output:
- Select The .Select Log File for window dialog box appears.
- Enter the path and file name for the logging file at Filter and Selection. The logging file should be /home/support/ccnumber/post_upg_scandisk.txt.
- Click OK.
- Set SCANDISK to run at a specific priority on the Ferret command line: set priority=low

Start SCANDISK with the following command on the Ferret command line:
scandisk
SCANDISK advises that the test will be started on all Vprocs. -
When asked Do you wish to continue based on this scope? (Y/N), enter Y.
SCANDISK takes hours to check larger disk arrays.
- SCANDISK progress can be checked at any time using the inquire command.
- Stop SCANDISK at any time with the abort command.

Review the results and address any errors or issues.
If necessary, open a support incident.

Run SCANDISK again, repeating this step until SCANDISK gives a report similar to the following:
8 of 8 vprocs responded with no messages or errors. date time Scandisk has completed.
- Exit logging by choosing Ferret window and clearing the Logging option. in the

Exit the Ferret application window:

- Leave the Supervisor window open.
