VM software requirements for the Teradata Database 15.10 image on VMware and Teradata Database on VMware for DSU deployment scripts template are:
  • 4 virtual CPUs
  • 16 GB RAM
  • SLES 11 SP3
  • 2 Parsing Engines (PEs)
  • 2 AMPs, each associated with a 150 GB virtual disk for a total of 300 GB
  • Approximately 300 GB max perm space

Required Software and Licenses

  • Microsoft PowerShell version 4 or higher
  • VMware vSphere PowerCLI version 5.5 or higher
  • VMware vCenter and ESXi version 5.5 update 2 or higher with a license allowing for at least one physical CPU, but preferably two CPUs per pNode.

There are many types of VMware licenses so be aware of what your license covers. A basic Essentials license is sufficient, although a vSphere standard license can also be used.
