A run file is an input stream file that has not been defined as the SYSIN file and, consequently, does not execute automatically when BTEQ is invoked. Use the BTEQ RUN command to execute a run file.

The following table explains how to specify a run file:

System Type Run File
Mainframe-attached Use a z/OS DD statement to define an input file as a run file before executing a BTEQ RUN command.
Workstation-attached Defining run files is not required.

For more information and examples of defining run files, see Using Scripts, Run Files, Macros, and Stored Procedures.
