If all of the rows cannot be described by a formula, they must be described individually. The following requests, for example, update the salaries of two employees:

update workforce.employee set salary=salary*1.07
where empno = 10006;
update workforce.employee set salary=salary*1.07
where empno = 10013;

This approach is convenient for a few updates, but if there were hundreds of updates, the script would be very long and inflexible. Each entry would have to be edited to use the script for another list of employees.
