The QueryFabric requires the ability to establish TCP connections over the designated fabric port (such as, port 5000) in either direction between each data source node that participates in the query through a customer LAN, BYNET, or InfiniBand. When direct connectivity is not available, you can "bridge" the connectivity between systems. This bi-directional requirement can be managed with the following system checks:
- Use a link diagnostic check to check the required connectivity exists between systems.
- Use a link bandwidth check to see the throughput QueryGrid can achieve when connectors are not the bottleneck.
For systems using QueryGrid 2.15 or later, data transfer connections are established from the data source system exporting data to the data source system importing data. A failure to establish a connection to an importing node is not a fatal error provided that a connection to at least one importing node can be made by each exporting node. Any connectivity errors during the query are reported in the Warnings tab on the QueryGrid view in the Query Monitoring portlet in Viewpoint.
