Problems encountered during execution of a Teradata SQL request are signalled to the application through the Error, Error Statement, or Failure parcels (flavors 49 and 9, respectively). Whenever the application receives a response parcel, there is a possibility that it will be an Error, Error Statement, or Failure parcel, even if previous parcels were normal.
