AP Reset Containment (APRC), a user-transparent feature available on AP-based hardware configurations running application programs and database utilities, restricts the number of database restarts triggered by AP Resets to only those occurrences where a restart is essential.
The estimated net result of this implementation is to eliminate about 75 percent of database restarts initiated by AP Resets.
Before APRC was implemented, a database restart was automatically triggered whenever an active AP in the current configuration was reset.
In the case of a resetting AP, there is a short delay while reconnects through other APs are performed, but the longer delay usually associated with a database restart is not necessary.
