The inline method is intended to accommodate relatively small LOBs and limit the row size for client to server transfers to 64K, if APH is not supported at the database, and to a size of 1,024,000 if APH is supported at the Database. No such limit applies to server to client transfers. This approach is very similar to the existing protocol used for handling non-LOB data and, in fact, may be used for intermixed LOB and non-LOB data.
