The DBCAREA contains option values used by the CLI routines. These options are initially set by DBCHINI based on the values provided in the clispb.dat file. The path of this file can be exported to CLI by using the COPLIB environment variable. During the installation of CLI, a sample clispb.dat file is installed. If a value for a particular option is not mentioned, a default value is taken from the CLISPB control structure.

The application may alter any of the DBCAREA options as necessary for the particular processing required. Not all options (and in some cases, none) are used by all calls to CLI.

Before calling any CLI common routines (except DBCHINI), applications can indicate to CLI a change in option values by setting the Change Options field to “Y”. All options will be copied by CLI from the DBCAREA fields. CLI will verify the settings for the options as necessary.
