The following table lists the data sets/files or input/output devices which Teradata MultiLoad uses to access the input data source.
Data Set/File or Device | Provides |
---|---|
Configuration | Optional specification of Teradata MultiLoad utility default values |
Standard error | Destination for Teradata MultiLoad errors |
Standard input | Teradata MultiLoad commands and Teradata SQL statements that make up the Teradata MultiLoad job |
Standard output | Destination for Teradata MultiLoad output responses and messages |
When running Teradata MultiLoad in interactive mode, the terminal keyboard functions as the standard input device and the display screen is the standard output/error device. When running Teradata MultiLoad in batch mode, specify a data set or file name for each of these functions. The method of doing this varies, depending on the configuration of the client system:
- On workstation-attached client systems, use the standard redirection mechanism (< infilename and > outfilename), the recommended approach, to specify the Teradata MultiLoad script files when the utility is invoked. Teradata MultiLoad script files can also be piped to Teradata MultiLoad when invoking the utility.
- On mainframe-attached client systems, use standard z/OS JCL control statements (DD) to allocate and create the Teradata MultiLoad data sets or files before invoking the utility.
