Use the ANSI/SQL DATE, TIME, TIMESTAMP and INTERVAL DateTime data types in Teradata SQL CREATE TABLE statements, and specify them as column/field modifiers in INSERT statements. However, note the following restrictions:

  • ANSI/SQL DateTime data types cannot be used when specifying the column/field names in a Teradata MultiLoad FIELD command.
  • ANSI/SQL DateTime data types must be converted to fixed-length CHAR data types when specifying column/field names in the Teradata MultiLoad FIELD command.

For a description of the fixed-length CHAR representations for each DATE, TIME, TIMESTAMP, and INTERVAL data type specification, see command usage notes for FIELD.
