Teradata now supports reading from and writing to data stored in Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake formatted data lakes. Customers can run analytical workloads on Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake Open Table Format (Iceberg OTF) tables directly within Teradata Vantage platforms.
Users can effortlessly query and write Iceberg and Delta Lake OTF tables stored in popular catalogs such as Unity Catalog, AWS Glue Data Catalog, or Apache Hive using simple and intuitive SQL syntax. The offering is compliant with Apache Iceberg Specifications Version 2 and Delta Lake Documentation. Cross reads are supported across Amazon S3, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2) and Google Cloud Storage (GCS), alongside users or applications manipulating data in the Iceberg and Delta Lake OTF Tables using ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability)-compliant services.
Open Table Format is now supported on all Vantage platforms including VantageCloud Enterprise, VantageCloud Lake and VantageOnVMware.
This document describes the steps to set up, query and update Iceberg/Delta Lake tables.
