Each time a SQL statement is executed, it returns a code to communicate whether or not the statement executed successfully. Therefore, define an area to receive these codes.
When precompiling applications in:
- Teradata mode (by setting the TRANSACT option to BTET, COMMIT or 2PC), define a communications area by using the INCLUDE SQLCA statement.
- ANSI mode (by defining TRANSACT as ANSI), use the SQLCODE and SQLSTATE variables to receive feedback information.
Do not mix program status communication areas between Teradata and ANSI compatible modes.
