Teradata Viewpoint can be configured to monitor certain system-level metrics for managed systems, including Teradata Viewpoint itself. These metrics include data on CPU usage, memory usage, system load, swap space usage, and I/O activity. Data that is collected from different managed systems can be viewed using the Viewpoint Monitoring portlet.

On Teradata Viewpoint 14.10 or later staged systems, the tmsmonitor and teradata-jdk7 packages are already installed. To set up monitoring of a managed system, install the tmsmonitor and teradata-jdk7 RPMs on the non-Viewpoint system you want to monitor.

  1. Download the tmsmonitor and teradata-jdk7 packages.
  2. Install the packages.
  3. Start the tmsmonitor service on the non-Viewpoint system:
    /etc/init.d/tmsmonitor start
  4. Open the Monitored Systems portlet from the Viewpoint system and add a new managed system.
