The recommended best practice for logging problematic DML requests (queries) is to specify XMLPLAN logging whenever you submit the queries. The XMLPLAN option captures (logs) the query plan generated by the Optimizer as an XML document that can be used by Teradata support tools to diagnose performance issues with the query. The query plan is stored in the DBC.DBQLXMLTbl system table. For information on how to capture query plans for DML requests using the XMLPLAN option, see BEGIN QUERY LOGGING in Teradata Vantage™ - SQL Data Definition Language Detailed Topics, B035-1184. For information about the BEGIN QUERY LOGGING statement syntax and descriptions of the statement options, see Teradata Vantage™ - SQL Data Definition Language Syntax and Examples, B035-1144.
