To gradually shift passive users off a system ahead of a system outage, failover the session.

The best practice is to use a Time Window to shift users automatically ahead of the outage.

  1. Use one of the following methods to perform a failover:
    Method Steps
    Business Continuity Manager UI
    1. From the Business Continuity Manager UI, select Sessions.
    2. Click "" , then select Failover.
    bcmadmin
    bcmadmin> help session failover;
    Command: SESSION FAILOVER { <bcm session id> | <routing name> }
    Description: Moves the preferred system for the session/routing to the next available system in the ordered list.
    bcmadmin> SESSION FAILOVER <bcm session id> | <routing name>;

    You do not need to failover managed sessions, as these sessions automatically connect to the active system.
