The watchdog process monitors sequencer operations to determine the active and standby states. Each watchdog process maintains a heartbeat connection with both the local and remote processes.
Two watchdogs are installed automatically with the two initial regions set up during install. These two watchdogs monitor the local processes in their region and control sequencer HA.
