The DBC database contains critical system tables that define the user databases in the Database Engine 20 / Teradata Database. The system tables, views, and macros in the DBC database cannot be selectively backed up and must be backed up in their entirety. The BAR Operations portlet does not allow any of the DBC system objects to be selected for backup.
Full user access privileges are required for archiving or restoring DBC.

To back up and restore the DBC database and all user databases, you must create a separate backup job for the DBC database, then a separate backup job for the other databases. After the backup jobs have successfully completed, you must create a separate restore job for each of the backup jobs.

When restoring the DBC backup, the DBC password of the system that was backed up is required.
  1. Back up the DBC and user data using the command line.
  2. Restore DBC and user data using the command line.
