An object (file) stored on S3 is defined by the “Region” (general location of the service), the “Bucket” (a logical container belonging to an account, user, or role), and a “Pathname” within that Bucket. Permission to create or access the object is established by an ID and a Key. These parameters, along with some application-specific performance parameters, connection count, buffer size, and quantity of buffers are also collected.
Some of the required values have default values. For convenience, some values can be obtained from well known locations (config files). Details are explained the table in the next section.
