Teradata Partitions
Teradata Database supports several different types of request processors, or partitions.
A partition is specified when a session is established by the CLIv2 Run String addressed
in the DBCAREA. CLIv2 operates identically for all partitions. Although the structures
of requests and responses are the same for all partitions, the contents vary by partition.
The following partitions are supported by the server for general use:
DBC/SQL - The partition that processes SQL requests. The remaining chapters of this manual
assume the use of this partition.
Monitor - The partition that processes performance monitor requests, available only for systems
running at least Teradata Database for UNIX, Version 2 Release 2, or Teradata DBS
for TOS, Version 1 Release 5. Use of this partition is described in Application Programming Reference and Teradata Manager User Guide (B035‑2428).
RBM (Resolver Base Module) - The partition that processes two-phase commit (2PC) in-doubt resolution requests,
available only for systems running Teradata Database for UNIX, Version 2 Release 2,
or Teradata DBS for TOS, Version 1 Release 5. See Chapter 18: “Resolver Base Module.”
