If the active cache database fails, you can promote the standby cache database to become the active cache database. The Teradata Viewpoint software in the cluster will automatically begin using the newly promoted cache database. No restarts are required.

After the promotion, there is no longer a standby cache database in the cluster. You must recreate the standby cache database.

  1. Log in to the Teradata Viewpoint server hosting the standby cache database.
  2. Type the following command to promote the standby cache database:
    /opt//teradata/viewpoint/bin/promote.sh

When the script completes, Teradata Viewpoint is available again.

  3. Recreate a standby cache database.
