The Enable Full Disk Encryption (FDE) step enables FDE on all arrays in the system that are FDE Capable and on 7200/7210 IntelliBase internal storage.

A passphrase is required to enable FDE. Choose and enter the passphrase using the guidelines listed on the screen.
Keep a copy of the passphrase in a secure location for future use.
PUT enables FDE in parallel at the storage array level. If two arrays are attached to two nodes, FDE is enabled on the two arrays at the same time. When FDE has been enabled on all arrays, a results screen appears.
  • For NetApp Arrays
    • The passphrase is needed to import the Security Lock Key using SYMplicity.
    • PUT determines which volumes, if any, can be secured. A confirmation screen lists each array with volumes to be secured.
    • The results screen shows the number of volumes where FDE was successfully enabled, skipped, or failed for each array. Clicking an individual array name provides detailed information for the selected array.
  • For DotHill Arrays and 7200/7210 IntelliBase Internal Storage
    • The existing passphrase is needed to re-set the Lock Key on arrays that are already secured.
    • If any arrays are already secured, you are prompted to enter the existing passphrase.
    • All secured arrays in the system must have the same passphrase.
