Several steps must be completed prior to updating the Hadoop cluster software.
-
Make sure that the cluster is up and in a stable condition.
Attempting an upgrade on a non-functional or degraded cluster is not recommended.
-
Download the following software into a temporary location:
- teradata-hdp-release bundle
- teradata-hadoop-builder
- teradata-hadoop-tools
-
Extract the software in the teradata-hdp-release bundle:
This step is required to prepare the media source directory for the upgrade.gunzip teradata-hdp-release__sles11_x8664.1.3.2.0-112.tar.gz
tar –xovf teradata-hdp-release__sles11_x8664.1.3.2.0-112.tar
The contents of the directory should look like this:
ape1_1-5:/var/opt/teradata/pkgs/HDP # ls -R1 .: ambari-1.2.2.4-suse11.tar.gz ARTIFACTS-1.3.70.2.tar.gz HDP-1.3.2.0-112-suse11-rpm.tar.gz HDP-UTILS-1.1.0.15-2-suse11.tar.gz PKF teradata-hadoop-builder-1.3.80.25-1.noarch.rpm teradata-hadoop-tools-1.3.50.22_d2d-1.noarch.rpm teradata-hdp-release-1.3.2.0-112a.noarch.rpm teradata-hdp-release__sles11_x8664.1.3.2.0-112a.tar ./PKF: flume-1.3.1.1.3.2.0-110.noarch.pkf flume-node-1.3.1.1.3.2.0-110.noarch.pkf hue-2.2.0.1.3.2.0-110.x86_64.pkf hue-plugins-2.2.0.1.3.2.0-110.x86_64.pkf mahout-0.7.0.1.3.2.0-110.noarch.pkf pig-0.11.1.1.3.2.0-noarch.pkf sqoop-1.4.3.1.3.2.0-110.noarch.pkf webhcat-tar-hive-0.11.0.1.3.2.0-110.noarch.pkf webhcat-tar-pig-0.11.1.1.3.2.0-110.noarch.pkf
