The Check Startup Settings step creates the startup.txt file on TPA nodes to help optimize Teradata performance.

The settings can be configured as follows:

File Description
startup.txt (located in \Program Files\teradata\TDAT\tdConfig) Contains settings optimizing Teradata DBMS startup performance.
If you edit startup.txt file and want to prevent future runs of PUT from overwriting those changes, then delete the startup_put.enable file located in the \Program Files\teradata\TDput\data directory.
startup.txt.old Contains a backup of the startup.txt file if PUT updates it.
startup_put.enable Allows PUT to overwrite existing startup.txt file. This file is automatically created when startup.txt file is initially created by PUT. Delete this file if you edit startup.txt file and want to prevent future runs of PUT from overwriting the changes.
startup_suggested.txt Contains settings suggested by PUT if PUT did not update the startup.txt file.
startup_put.disable Create this file if you do not want a startup.txt file to be created by PUT on this node. For example, rename startup.txt file to startup_put.disable.
