If you have VM&F configured, the Boot Environment Selection step displays the Select Boot Environment (BE) for Upgrade screen. Use this screen to add packages to the Primary Boot Environment (PBE) or the Alternate Boot Environment (ABE) for each system listed.

Example when doing an operating system move to a later SLES release on a Linux system:

Special SLES upgrade (VM&F not configured)

If you are not doing a special SLES move, and VM&F is configured, you can choose to use VM&F or not:

Special SLES move (VM&F configured)

You cannot perform a VM&F upgrade if you are doing a fresh install of Teradata. For this task you are not given the option of choosing VM&F - you must use the primary Boot Environment.

You must perform a VM&F upgrade if you are doing a SLES move.
