The Package Install step is where you monitor the installation of packages.
If you are running on a system with real consoles attached and the system does not have enough resources (specifically desktop heap space) to allow PUT to create an invisible desktop, PUT runs the install on the (visible) system console desktop. If this happens, the following message displays on the console:
Due to lack of system resources, PUT could not create a new desktop. Therefore, PUT will use this desktop to install software.
Windows appear and disappear. Do not respond to any windows on this desktop while this message is visible, except for PUT messages that appear on the Unexpected Message Encountered screen.
To continue with the upgrade, do the following:
- Click in the text box and press the space bar to enter a space character.
- Click Apply to All Nodes.
- Click Next/Continue and then click Apply to All Nodes.
Package Install Results
After installing the packages, the Overall Package Install Results screen opens.
- If you receive a failure, it is listed in either the Fail or Ignore columns. To get more information on what nodes failed, click the package name in the same row as the failed/ignored package. If it is a non-critical package that can be ignored, select the check box and click Retry to continue the installation. This may not be the result you want, so be sure to check why the package failed.
- If all packages successfully install, this is indicated in the Nodes Successful column. Click the package name to verify the nodes to which the packages were installed. Click Next to continue.
Package Failures
If you receive a failure that cannot be ignored, click the package name in the same row as the failed/ignored package.
Click the node name to display the log file to determine why the package failed.
