Before Teradata SQL Engine can access database components, they are authenticated, using these methods:
Authentication Method Description
Kerberos Allows external authorization of database users.
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Allows authentication of database users against a centralized LDAP directory rather than using credentials maintained in the data dictionary.
Single Sign-on (SSO) Allows users of Teradata SQL Engine on Windows systems to access Teradata SQL Engine using their authorized network usernames and passwords.
Teradata Wallet Securely stores passwords for Teradata database authentication, which can be automatically retrieved at run time and submitted to the database.

For more information, see Teradata® Database Security Administration, B035-1100.
