Uses of Teradata ARC
Teradata ARC supports:
Archiving a database, individual table, or selected partitions of a PPI table from
a Teradata Database to a client resident file.
Restoring a database, individual table, or selected partitions of a PPI table back
to a Teradata Database from a client resident archive file.
Copying an archived database, table, or selected partitions of a PPI table to a Teradata
Database on a different hardware platform than the one from which the database or
table was archived.
Note: Beginning with TTU 13.00.00, Teradata ARC supports:
Archiving, restoring, and copying all objects as individual objects, except for triggers
which cannot be copied. For a complete list of objects supported by Teradata ARC,
see “Appendix A Database Objects” on page 261.
Archiving and restoring join and hash index definitions; automatically rebuilding
the indexes after a restore or copy operation.
Teradata ARC also supports:
Placing a checkpoint entry in a journal table.
Recovering a database to an arbitrary checkpoint by rolling it back or rolling it
forward, using change images from a journal table.
Deleting change image rows from a journal table.
