The ARCHIVE statement archives a copy of a database or table to some type of portable media. Use ARCHIVE to extract data from a Teradata Database. Use the COPY or RESTORE statement to import data to a Teradata Database.

DUMP is an alias of ARCHIVE.

Beginning with TTU 13.00.00, there is support for archiving all objects as individual objects.

Multiple Hash Map Support Starting with 16.10

ARC only supports ALL AMPs Contiguous Maps. Any object encountered during ARCHIVE coming from a different map type causes ARC to return a DBS error and then abort the job.

For example, if ARCHIVE encounters sparse map tables, ARC displays the following error:
*** Failure 9028:Legacy BAR job does not support sparse maps or contiguous maps that are not on all amps
