Adapters are configured differently depending on their type and location. PUT automatically detects the presence or absence of adapters on a system and presents the appropriate screens for configuration.
PUT performs the following types of adapter configurations:
- LAN Adapters - Maps LAN Adapters to PE vprocs by assigned host group id (hgid).
- Channel Adapters - Configures Channel Adapters located locally on the node.
- ECN/ECS Host Channels - Configures Enhanced Connectivity Node (ECN)/Extended Channel Solution (ECS) Host Channels if there are any external Channel Adapters.ECN configuration is only allowed on Teradata Database release 13.10. ECS configuration is only allowed on Teradata Database release 14.0 or later.
