PUT requires two Java packages: one for the server side (where PUT is installed), and one for the client side (from which PUT is launched).
On the server side, you must install teradata-jre8 in order for the Discover Storage step in various operations and PUT as an application to complete successfully. Teradata recommends that you install PUT, then use the PUT Install/Upgrade Software operation to install teradata-jre8.
The client side can be a Windows machine (personal computer or laptop) or a Linux machine (such as Linux SWS). On a Windows client, PUT requires Oracle Java plugin JRE 1.8.0_51 or higher to interface with the web browser. If the user uses the Internet Explorer browser at run time, if the client side does not have the plugin installed, PUT installs it after obtaining permission from the user. If the user does not permit installation of the plugin, PUT will not launch in the web browser. On a Linux client, PUT uses the Java package used by SWS. For SLES 10, that package is Oracle JRE1.7.0_80; for SLES 11, it is teradata-jre8.
The required Java packages can be downloaded from Teradata Support https://access.teradata.com.
