The PUTTools package contains tools used before and during an upgrade. This package is part of the Certification List and is installed separately from TDput. It is required to perform major release updates. Some PUTTools are:
- Upgrade and migration scripts that must be run manually before attempting an upgrade.
- The minupgvr text file, which contains the minimum Teradata® Database or Vantage Release that must be on the system before attempting a major upgrade to a later version of the database. During the Install/Upgrade Software operation, PUT compares the requirement in this file to the current database version. If the system is not at the correct version, PUT does not attempt to do a major upgrade.
