PUT installs or upgrades one or more software packages on a single node or simultaneously across multiple nodes running different operating systems. Some important things to remember when upgrading or installing software on multiple nodes with different operating systems are:
  • All target nodes must be running the same version of PUT.
  • PUT does not support upgrading Vantage packages on multiple Teradata systems at the same time.
  • Only the Install/Upgrade Software and Log Collection operations are available for use across multiple nodes with different operating systems.
  • In the Find All Subnets step, select the Ethernet option so that PUT can find all modifiable system nodes.
  • PUT automatically detects when software packages are incompatible with the operating system and prevents installation of such packages. For example, PUT will not install a SLES10 package on a SLES11 node. If you try to install a SLES10 package on a SLES11 node, PUT displays an error message and requires you to rectify the situation.
  • The Select Spool Area step requires a spool area selection for each version of SLES where software is being installed or upgraded. PUT automatically displays the appropriate operating system spool area options.
