The Start Teradata Database option step is where you can direct PUT to start or not start the database using the following options:

Option Description
Do not start the database, new configuration will be ignored If you do not want to start the database now, select and finish the operation. If you choose not to have PUT start the database, the clustering definitions created during this session are discarded. When you are ready to start the database, type the appropriate command:

/etc/init.d/tpa start

Restart the database (online reconfig) If you choose to start the database, PUT runs Recond, Sysinit, and DIP. Sysinit and DIP are only for new installations of the database. Config and Reconfig are for existing installations.

If the database is running, and you choose to keep the old configuration and not restart the database, the newly created vconfig.txt file is copied into the vconfig.txt.new file. A new .gdo file is not created.

If you choose to restart the database, PUT applies the new configuration.

If the database is not started at this point, changes to settings in control.gdo, dbscontrol.gdo, and tdlocaledef.txt resulting from this run may not be properly documented in the control_settings_changes report generated at the Finished! step.
