If you are remotely connected via dial-up and connect to PUT with a browser, PUTLoader runs to verify if the client system has the correct Java plug-in installed. If not, then the plug-in is downloaded from the Target System to the client system. The Java plug-in is quite large, greater than 8 MB. A dial-up connection takes a long time (approximately 15 - 60 minutes, depending on dial-up speed) during which PUT may appear to be hung, even though it is not. You can use ftp to receive download files from the Target System, and then find the location of the installed TDput package. The typical location is opt/teradata/TDput/web/plugins.
Manually download the highest version of the Java plug-in, then install this plug-in and reconnect to PUT.
You can also obtain the correct plug-in from the Teradata Software Server (TSS).
