The following procedure outlines the main steps of upgrading a SLES 10 appliance-licensed system to a SLES 11. In this scenario, licensing defaults to IWM, which provides access to a subset of the components available with full TASM licensing.

Before performing this task, be sure to review General Upgrade Considerations and License- and Platform-Dependent Upgrade Considerations.

  1. Ensure that the Teradata Database version on the system is supported on SLES 11.
  2. Back up the TDWM database. This database encompasses configurations for the default performance groups.
  3. Upgrade from SLES 10 to SLES 11.
  4. Run the TDWMDIP program. The TDWMDIP program converts the default SLES 10 performance groups to SLES 11-compatible workloads based on a pre-defined processing scheme.
  5. Bring the system to the Logons Enabled state.
  6. Use the Workload Designer portlet in Teradata Viewpoint to refine workload settings as necessary.
