AD 6.20.04 New Features Description
IBM BigInsights 4.2 Teradata Aster supports loading data from and to hive tables, created and managed on an IBM BigInsights 4.2 cluster, using the load_from_hcatalog and load_to_hcatalog Teradata Aster SQL-MapReduce functions. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Teradata Database Version 16.00 is supported.
CDH 5.8 Certified with this release.
AD 6.20.03 New Features Description
Mixed Mode Authentication Allows you to connect to the Aster Database with multiple types of authentication simultaneously. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Multi-Level LDAP Authentication For additional security, Aster now supports multi-level LDAP authentication. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Kerberos-Enabled Teradata-Aster Connector Kerberos authentication mechanism has been added to the present set of authentication methods available for the Aster-Teradata connector. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Enhanced Query Monitoring To prevent a query using an analytic function from impacting cluster availability, you can set thresholds to automatically monitor queries that block other work and warn or kill them if they are degrading the overall cluster performance. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
HDP 2.4.2 Certified with this release.
AD 6.20.02 New Feature Description
load_from_hcatalog function argument TEMP_DBNAME has been added to the load_from_hcatalog function to save temporary tables created by load_from_hcatalog. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.

LDAP Authentication in QueryGrid: Aster-Hadoop Connectors LDAP is added as an additional Hadoop security type. In this release, Aster supports only Hadoop clusters where only HiveMetastore is secured with LDAP. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Tracing Query Relationship Hierarchy Identifies Aster processes (statements and queries) executed by an invoked Teradata Aster SQL-MapReduce driver function. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
AMC Storage Monitoring Enhancements AMC displays data on table sizes, compression, tuple counts, as well as data on how a table is distributed among nodes and vWorkers. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
SolrCloud Integration Enables data stored in Aster to be indexed in an external SolrCloud cluster. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
AD 6.20 New Features Description
User Defined Functions Allows easier development of high performance sophisticated customized functions. See the Teradata Aster® Developer Guide.
System Table Joins Joins are allowed between data dictionary views and user tables. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Query Pushdown Allows you to push queries to a Hadoop hive database and get results back to Aster, automatically mapping hive data types to Aster data types.

In support of this feature, hs2Host and hs2Port are new options to ncli sqlh setserverconfig.

See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.

load_to_hcatalog Function Copies data from Aster Database to Hadoop and puts out information about the data copied and any errors generated. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Foreign Server Supports bi-directional movement between the HCatalog and Teradata foreign data sources. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
OPS Log Parser ncli system analyzeopslog is a new command that makes it easier to access and extract useful information from OPS logs. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Limiting Disk Space Usage for Temporary Tables and Files The variable temp_space_limit limits the amount of temporary table and file disk space a query can take. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Write-Ahead Logging New ncli vworker command parameters:

showwalreplayprogress

showwalreplaytime

See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.

Information About Catalogs ncli catalog showcatalogstats takes a list of databases as input and shows detailed information on catalogs of the databases specified. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
Data Integrity Verification Internal checking for events that can indicate a rare type of data corruption is performed automatically. See the Teradata Aster® Database User Guide.
JDK 1.8 Supported at this release.
