You must be the root user to run switch in the following procedure.
If the Appliance Backup Utility server fails, run the switch on an alternate node to specify that node as the server.
- Ensure that the Appliance Backup Utility GUI is not running.
- Ensure that the Appliance Backup Utility server node is down. To check status, type /etc/init.d/tdabusrv status.
- [Optional] To stop the Appliance Backup Utility server, type /etc/init.d/tdabusrv stop. There must be only one Appliance Backup Utility server running within the Teradata Database system.
- Choose a Teradata Database node with abu_service software where the Appliance Backup Utility server will run.

On the node that you have chosen to run the Appliance Backup Utility server, type /opt/teradata/abu_service/service/bin/switch -f.
The Appliance Backup Utility server is switched to this node and Appliance Backup Utility clients are connected to the server on this node.If the original Application Backup Utility server node is down, switch will instruct you to perform the following on that node when it becomes available:
/opt/teradata/abu_service/service/bin/switch -u
- [Conditional] If the original server is unavailable as an Appliance Backup Utility client, make its destination paths available to the other clients.

Do one of the following to reconfigure the Appliance Backup Utility clients and client destination paths:
- Type /opt/teradata/abu_service/service/bin/configure -cd.
- To install the Appliance Backup Utility GUI on the same node as the server and reconfigure the clients and destination paths, type /opt/teradata/abu_service/service/bin/configure -cd -gi.
- When the failed node becomes available, add the node as a client and configure its destination paths. On the active Appliance Backup Utility server node, type /opt/teradata/abu_service/service/bin/configure -cd. This adds the previously unavailable node to the configuration as a client and reconfigures the destination paths.
